Learning and Applying Essentials of Mixed Methods Research (MMR)

This three-day workshop on May 26, May 27 & June 2, 2023 is designed to use a participatory-interactive educational approach. The sessions will utilize brief didactics and completion of an assigned exercise. Participants will provide feedback on peer-reviewed articles to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of mixed methods research knowledge and skills. Workshop activities are geared toward novice and advanced researchers entering the MMR as an approach to their projects. The activities uniquely focus on application. Having become familiar with the Mixed Methods Research, participants will be able to review and critique MMR peer-review articles based on the various activities included in this workshop. The workshop will be led by Prof. Michael Fetters of the University of Michigan, who is the Director of the Mixed Methods Program, Co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Mixed Methods Research, and author of the Mixed Methods Research Workbook—Activities for Designing, Implementing and Publishing Projects published by SAGE. Dr. Fetters is passionate about advancing integration in mixed methods and evaluation of research. He led multiple workshops in various countries and through the University of Michigan Mixed Methods Program. Many of his past workshop attendees have been novice mixed methods researchers.

1. 1- Recognize essential features of well-integrated MMR studies
2. 2- Identify how others have applied these essential features in skillfully conducted MMR studies
3. 3- Apply these MMR essential features to peer review empirical MM studies and composing effective responses to peer review critiques

Changes or Cancellations

 1- Name changes or substitutions are not permitted.

 2- All cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing and submitted via email to [email protected].

 3- For a full refund of the registration fee, the cancellation request must be received at least 7 days prior to the session. No refund will be offered for cancellation request thereafter.

 4- We will attempt to process the refund within 30 days of receiving any cancellation request.

5- Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar reserves the right to cancel the course. In the event of a cancellation, fee deposit will be returned, but we will not be responsible for any other expenses including restricted or non-refundable airfare or hotel deposits.
