Overview

This enduring material is composed of 5 online modules providing an evidence-based update on the role of the Gut Microbiota in health and diseases Participants will be able to define what is microbiota and describe the general principles governing interactions between gut resident microbes and humans. They will be able to identify the numerous facets of human biology that are influenced by the gut microbiota in health and disease. In addition, participants will learn about the effect of lifestyle- nutrition and antibiotic/probiotic use- on shaping the gut microbiota composition. Toward the end of the course, participants will be able to Discuss the incorporation of the gut microbiota analysis into daily practice of medicine and explain the principles behind the use of fecal transplants, its potential benefits and risks.

Objectives
  1. • Describe the general principles governing interactions between gut resident microbes and humans.
  2. • Identify the numerous facets of human biology that are influenced by the gut microbiota in health and disease.
  3. • Define the factors that can alter the microbiota in everyday life, including antibiotics, diets, which directly impact microbiota composition and function.
  4. • Explain the principles behind the use of fecal transplants, the potential benefits and risks.
  5. • Discuss the incorporation of the gut microbiota analysis into daily practice of medicine.

Registration: 150 USD; 545 QAR 

Estimated Time: 19.5 hours

Changes or Cancellations

  • Name changes or substitutions are not permitted.
  • All cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing and submitted via email to [email protected].
  • For a full refund of the registration fee, the cancellation request must be received at least 7 days prior to the session. No refund will be offered for cancellation request thereafter.
  • We will attempt to process the refund within 30 days of receiving any cancellation request.
  • Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar reserves the right to cancel the course. In the event of a cancellation, fee deposit will be returned, but we will not be responsible for any other expenses including restricted or non-refundable airfare or hotel deposits.
