Overview

Activity Code: API-02-P294

Healthcare is entering an era in which patients have unprecedented access to biomedical research, online health information, and AI-powered tools that can generate medical information within seconds. This 1-hour CPD webinar explores how clinicians can confidently navigate this evolving landscape by strengthening their scientific literacy and understanding the role of AI in clinical practice. Through practical clinical examples, participants will learn how to interpret scientific evidence, critically evaluate AI-generated information, and communicate effectively with patients while recognising the opportunities and limitations of AI as a decision-support tool. To support everyday clinical practice, this webinar introduces the “3A Model”, a simple, practical framework that clinicians can easily remember and apply: Ask: Explore what the patient already knows or has learned from AI or other information sources. Assess: Critically evaluate the available evidence, AI-generated information, and the patient's clinical context. Advise: Clearly explain the findings and agree on an evidence-informed management plan.

Target Audience
Professions - Allied Health Practitioner, Dentist, Nurse, Pharmacist, Physician

Overall Learning Objective
  1. Explain the principles of scientific literacy, including the use of biomedical evidence, guidelines, and AI in clinical decision-making.
  2. Interpret clinical evidence to support evidence-based decision-making and patient communication.
  3. Evaluate shared decision-making using evidence and AI-generated health information in clinical communication.
  4. Apply communication strategies to address patients' questions about scientific publications, online health information, or AI-generated interpretations.
  5. Recognize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration when managing complex clinical presentations that extend beyond a single area of expertise.
