Overview
This interactive 6-hour training highlights the dynamic relationship between the adult developmental stages and the social-emotional competencies (SECs) essential for thriving in professional and social life. Grounded in the constructive development theory and social-emotional learning research, this workshop guides participants through how adults make meaning of their life experiences - and how that shapes their ability to manage emotions, build relationships, and make responsible decisions. Through self-reflection, case studies, and group discussions, professionals will gain insight into their own growth and learn practical strategies to support social-emotional development in themselves, their mentees, and their peers.

Overall Learning Objective
  1. Describe the adult development stages based on Kegan’s constructive developmental theory.
  2. Identify key social-emotional competencies (SECs) and explore practical development strategies.
  3. Analyze the relationship between adult development stages and the deepening of SECs.
  4. Appraise their own developmental journey and their current SEC strengths and set up a future plan.

Evaluation

An evaluation will be conducted online post activity. All participants are required to complete the evaluation to receive a certificate. The evaluation allows us to assess the degree to which the activity met its objectives. It will also guide the planning of future activities and inform decisions about improving the educational program.
