Dr. Gladys Honein-AbouHaidar is an associate professor at the Hariri School of Nursing (HSON) at the American University of Beirut. She is also co-director of the Refugee Health Program at the Global Health Institute and a qualitative researcher consultant at the Clinical Research Institute.
Her primary research and scholarship focus on improving community health, strongly emphasizing social determinants and their impact on health outcomes, particularly for underprivileged populations. Dr. Honein-AbouHaidar works closely with researchers from different disciplines to identify community needs underpinned by the principles of equity, inclusiveness, and participation to help improve the quality of health within the community. She also employs qualitative research skills to generate critical knowledge to advance policy change.
