Dr Felice Watt – Bio

 

Dr Felice Watt is Division Chief Women’s Mental Health for Department of Psychiatry at Sidra Medicine and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Weill Cornell Medical College. She arrived in Qatar from Perth in January 2017 to establish Sidra’s perinatal mental health service.

Prior to moving to Doha, Felice lived in Perth, Western Australia, where she held the position of Medical Co-Director Women’s Health, Genetics and Mental Health at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Women’s and Newborn Health Service, Western Australia’s only tertiary women’s hospital. In this position she had medical leadership responsibilities which included oversight of Department of Psychological Medicine, Mother and Baby Mental Health Unit, oversight of the States Women’s Health Policy, the WA Sexual Assault Referral Centre and Women’s Health Clinical Support Programs.

She completed her medical degree at University of Western Australia in 1995 and was made a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1995. Following ten years in private practice, she went on to work as a consultation liaison psychiatrist in perinatal and women’s mental health at King Edward Hospital, where she became Head of Department, and also consulted at the Western Australia’s first Mother and Baby Inpatient Unit.  Highlights have included co-leading the development of Western Australia’s Perinatal and Infant Model of Care, implementation of the WA 2016 Mental Health Act, developing the Childbirth and Mental Illness Service for women with serious mental illness and their families, and introducing trauma informed care to the KEMH hospital setting.
